Colorado Crisis Services (CCS) Consolidation

Why is Colorado Crisis Services consolidating?

As a result of Colorado legislation SB25-236, the legislation now combines the 988 Colorado Mental Health Line (988 Colorado) and Colorado Crisis Services line, making 988 Colorado the primary way to connect to immediate free emotional, mental health, or substance use support 24/7. This transition reduces redundancies and delivers a more seamless experience for individuals when they need support the most as well as leverages 988 as an easy to remember number for the people of Colorado.

What does this consolidation mean for the people of Colorado?

Starting July 1, 2025, anytime someone calls or texts the Colorado Crisis Services line at 1-844-493-8255 or 38255, they will be connected to the 988 Colorado Mental Health Line for support and services. Provider support will remain the same and help seekers can expect the same consistent services they received through the Colorado Crisis Services line.

Do you have resources available to support my organization in making this transition?

Yes! We have created a digital toolkit that provides social media posts, messaging, and web guidelines to support you and your community in spreading awareness of 988 Colorado.

Where can I sign up for updates related to the consolidation?

The 988 Team will share updates via our monthly 988 newsletter that will launch in June. You can sign up HERE. Questions can be directed toward 988Colorado@state.co.us.

How does this impact schools in Colorado?

In accordance with House Bill 22-1052, the state of Colorado’s Behavioral Health Administration is required to share awareness and educational materials related to crisis services to all schools, both public and private, in Colorado. The act also requires each student identification card issued to a public school student to contain the phone number, website, and contact information for the 988 Colorado Mental Health Line and Safe2Tell. If the public school doesn’t issue school identification cards, they must display 988 Colorado Mental Health Line materials in the school and send materials to parents and guardians at the beginning of the school year.
